Thus. Nov.5/15

Daily reflections: Thursday: November 5/15

Gospel: Luke 15:1... the Pharisees and scribes are grumbling because they see tax collectors and sinners coming around Jesus in large crowds, and Jesus does not turn anyone away welcomes him and ministers to the with compassionate love. Then Jesus tells him a story about the loss sheep how am Shepherd leaves the 99 to go in search of the one. When the shepherd comes home with the loss sheep there is a big party. Then Jesus tells them, “there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who reprints”. With this story Jesus is teaching the scribes that and the Pharisees who would often judge and condemn those they call sinners and turn them away. Jesus told them very clearly this is not the way of God but that Jesus rejoiced when people who are sinners come back and Jesus looking for compassion, mercy, and forgiveness. This is the way of God, this is the way of Jesus.

Reflection: do you rejoice when you see someone turn her life around?

Prayer: Lord Jesus, you are one who brought tremendous hope to people who are marginalized, rejected, and called sinners. I see that you always welcome them in your presence, showing mercy not judgment, and you did show compassion and forgiveness. Amen
