Daily reflections: Monday: July 27/15

Gospel: Matthew 13:31... in this Gospel Jesus makes a very important and teaching pertaining to the growth of the kingdom of God in the hearts of people. We read, “the kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that someone sold in the field, is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air, build nests In its branches”. Over the centuries, Catholic communities have become large parishes where the people of the nine o clock mass don’t know the people at the 11  o clock mass, the people at the front of the church don\'t know the people at the back of the church, and sold a large parish church is a very optional teaching of Jesus. This teaching of Jesus and validates a small face sharing community where people know one another, share their life experiences, reflect on Scripture passages, are fed  and reached for the journey, and very often have a shared mission in their community. This is the small mustard seed that Jesus was making reference to, and it seems we may need more of the small face sharing communities to re-energize our larger parishes.

Reflection: idea where desired to be a participant in a small face sharing community?

Prayer Jesus, with large parish churches we can realize how difficult is to be a mustard seed with the potential for life, for faith sharing, four growth and transformation, and yet we see many small faith sharing communities springing up all around us. I pray that they will continue to blossom and grow in the years to come. Amen
