Weds. June 3/15

Daily reflections: Wednesday: June 3/15

Gospel: Mark 12:18... in today\'s Gospel is the Sadducees who questioned Jesus about the resurrection or the belief in resurrection whereas the Pharisees do not. They pose the question by telling a story of seven brothers who married in the first one died as did all the rest without any children. They ask, “in the resurrection whose wife will she be?” Jesus tells them they really don\'t know what they\'re talking about and in reference to God he says of God, “he is God  not of the dead and the living”. We really do not know much about the afterlife by this we do know that there is no such thing as death. Yes, the body dies when a person does what the Spirit does not die, our time in the body may be few years or many years but it will come to an end, and when it does the spirit living inside our body  continue on our journey into eternity and then we live a life of the resurrection in the presence of a loving and merciful God. It is difficult for us to grasp the idea that we do not die and at the same time we believe in immortality. Perhaps it helps if we take time to reflect on this idea it may make sense to us, the fact that we do not die, only our body dies, but you and I will live forever in the heart of a loving God.

Reflection: what are your thoughts about not dying?

Prayer: Jesus our Savior, I trust in your help for all of us to grasp the whole notion that we do not die, that we only lay our bodies aside, and we move on and continue our journey into eternity. Amen
