Daily reflections: Monday, February 23/15

Gospel: Matthew 25:31... in this gospel we find him some of the requirements of those who claim to be a follower of Jesus. We read the line where Jesus said, “I tell you just as you did it to one of the least of my brothers and sisters of mine, you did it to me”. Jesus is really talking about living a very compassionate life, living a life that is not self-centered, a life which reaches out to other people in the life-giving manner. We read in this gospel what Jesus meant, when I was hungry, you gave me food, I was thirsty and give me a drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me... the word picture we have here is first of all that when we redo it sincere act of charity for her to another person we are doing it to Jesus that\'s how closely she is identified with the poor and the sick and those in prison. It\'s not about the  prayers we said, the number of times we went to mass, the number of times we participated in rituals, but rather how long by compassion you related to other people, that is what really comes.

Reflection: do you see your giving and your visitation to others help you to indemnify the Jesus?

Prayer: Lord Jesus, we know that you lead a very compassionate and thoughtful life, you did not seek honors or riches, rather you were a people’s person always. I know that with the help of the grace of God I too can be a compassionate people’s person. Amen
