Daily reflections: Tuesday: February 17/15

Gospel: Mark 8/: 14... we know that Jesus used metaphors in order to teach the people then and now. The metaphor spoke to the people of his time and they speak to the people of our time when we unraveled and look for their meaning. The disciples in the boat with Jesus told Jesus at the not brought any bread and had only one loaf in the boat. Jesus warned his disciples using a metaphor, “watch out, beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod”. Jesus complained to the disciples that they were not able to understand his teachings and therefore they still hung on to the teachings of their religious leaders which were not life-giving, and the words of Herod which kept them oppressed and poor. Jesus told him that he often said that people with true bread... that is what the word of God which is true bread and liberating.

Reflection: do you find the meaning of life in the Scriptures or in the words of political and business leaders?

Prayer: Lord Jesus, it is your words that give me life and freedom as I search out your words day by day I find a greater meeting and enlightenment. I remember your words when you said, you will know the truth and the truth will set you free, I pray that the Spirit will help me to know the truth. Amen
