be a good listener

Daily reflections: Friday: June 27/14

Gospel: Matthew 11:25... Jesus was always open and receptive to people who came to him carrying a heavy burden. It was with compassion that he listened, responded, and moved with compassion you minister to those people who lighten their burden. We then read that Jesus said: : come to me, all of you that are weary and carry a heavy burden, and I will give you rest.” We may wonder how Jesus can do this today. The answer is very simple. St. Paul refer to the Christian people as the Body of Christ, it means I Christian communities are to carry on the ministry of Jesus and to have that kind of relationships where people can unburden themselves, be heard, not judge or criticize, and be showing a warm and caring heart by another member of the Christian community. Members of the committee are called to minister to one another and by so doing to lighten one another\'s burdens. It also means that we are to come to others and be forthright about to tell them our burden.

Reflection: what is your experience of a faith community as regards your burden?

Prayer: Jesus, people know that you cared and that you would listen to them and you would lighten their burden and you left that legacy to your friends and disciples who make up the Christian community. I intend, by the grace of God, to be a good listener in order to lighten the burdens of other. Amen
