imitate Jesus

Daily reflections: Thursday: June 12/14

Gospel Matthew 5:20... we know that Jesus often spoke the truth to power and by doing so he challenged those who should have been authentic and life-giving religious leaders. We read that Jesus said to his disciples, “I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of God.”Time and again Jesus had strong words for the religious leaders of the time because they were not being truly servants to the people but rather grow more concerned about their own comfort and well-being. Not only that, they had become very legalistic of a very heavy burdens on the ordinary people which made their life hard and difficult.

Reflection: you think the words of Jesus are relevant for today?

Prayer: Jesus, you have given me an excellent example of how to put your gifts and talents of the service of other people. I pray that I will allow myself to be guided and strengthened by the Spirit and so imitate you by putting my gifts and talents the service of others. Amen
