God\'s work

Daily reflections: Wednesday: May 21/14

Gospel of John 15:1... again John locates Jesus giving final instructions to his disciples before his departure and his hope is that disciples will take his instructions seriously and continue on God\'s work of bringing about the kingdom of God in the hearts of people. Jesus gives disciples of very good advice if they hope to be faithful to the Ministry. We read; “abide in me as I abide you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine neither can you unless you abide in me. “ This calls us to look at our spirituality and how that spirituality is meant to cool and mature over the years of our life. Jesus is telling us that our relationship with him and with God is with the almost important if we hope to do God\'s work, which is to bring about the kingdom of God in our hearts and souls of people. The teaching tells us that if we try to do it on our own without any reference to God or the Spirit we will fail in doing God\'s work even though we may do some good work on our own but it will not be God\'s work.

Reflection: you focus on your relationship with God and the guidance of the Spirit when you consider doing God\'s work?

Prayer: Mighty Spirit, I know I have to be ever more aware of your presence within me and through my life to prayer discern what is God\'s work and how I came to respond in doing God\'s work. Amen
