Daily reflections: Friday, February 19/16

Gospel Matthew 5:20... reconciliation has always been an important thing of Christian life. Today we read that Jesus said,”if you are offering your gift at the altar and your brother or your sister have something against you, leave your gift at the altar and go, first be reconciled to your brother or sister, then, and offer your gift at the altar”. It is easy enough to speak about reconciliation when there has been a misunderstanding, or conflict, or hurt feelings. We know the results and need for reconciliation between groups of people, between nations, and between members of the same family. However, reconciliation is not always easy to do because of resentment and anger. Sometimes, we need to process our anger and resentment before we attempt reconciliation. At times we need to pray that the Spirit of God will bring healing to our feeling so that we can honestly say that someone I desire reconciliation.

Reflection: have you faced the need for reconciliation and how do you go about?

Prayer: Jesus, you seem to have lived with a forgiving heart and was able to see the fears of others which moves them to act without love or caused me to act without love. God of love and healing I pray that your Spirit will expand my heart so that I will understand the fears of others which cause them to act that way and will give me a healing love for others and the love enough not to take offense at the action of other people. Amen
