BOOK REVIEW

TWO DOGS AND A PARROT  by  JOAN CHITTISTER

This is a terrific book focuses on the relationship with the animals and human and in the relationship and in the development of our spirituality. This will show us how, when we have a heartwarming relationship and animal, with dogs, birds, cats, horses, rabbits and other pets, are full of joys and rewards. Their personalities, their intelligence, their feelings draw on out of ourselves and make us aware of another level of what it means to be alive. The tedious to cherish life pleasures and to deal with it struggles. They show us the importance of being able to accept ourselves and to have empathy for others. They help us to find purpose and meaning in what we do and to overcome challenges and setbacks. In our companion animals we observe very degrees of excitement and play, of love and fear. We see them court adventure and give themselves fully to the enjoyment. And we realize their beautiful uniqueness, their sensitivities, and strong sense of purpose.

During my lifetime I\'ve had two dogs and two cats as my traveling companion. The dogs taught me, by my experience with them, the true meaning of unconditional love. They opened my heart to love and this has helped me to experience and to know that God loves me unconditionally. My cats have taught me that they have a life of their own and it is by accepting them and I do not try to remake the my image and likeness. Acceptance of them and the people was a lesson I learned.

This is a real fun book to read, the author\'s stories, her experiences, and all she  learned from having as pets makes a very enjoyable read and also very enlightening.
